Working as a stylist and fashion editor, I’ve learned how to dress people of all shapes and sizes — including those with larger busts. A crew neck design, for instance, might work for someone with a smaller chest, but the same piece can add unwanted bulk on those with a D cup or larger. That’s why V-neck maxi dresses are a smart choice for someone who's a bit bigger up top. The cut and hint of skin create a clean, vertical line, balancing your shape while also elongating it. Of course, not everyone wants to rock a plunging neckline, and I totally understand. It's why I’ve compiled a list of cute, subtle V-neck maxi dresses for those with bigger busts. Each option shows just enough, so you’ll look good and feel comfy, too! 13 V-Neck Maxi Dresses That Flatter Big Busts Shop the Look! 1. Our Favorite: The smocked bodice on this romantic, floral-printed puff-sleeved pick defines the waist, creating an hourglass shape while providing some extra support. Since it's not a tank, there's room to wear a real bra without showing off your straps. 2. Quick Zip: Sure, the gingham print is a highlight, but this V-neck find is a must thanks to its curve-friendly smocking and adjustable zipper. While the current neckline sits pretty high, you can always adjust it to show off a bit more. 3. Vacation-Ready: Even if you're not headed to the Mediterranean, you can still embrace the style with a tiered maxi dress that features a fun ornate print. Made from an elastane blend, the style is stretchy and also comes in plus sizes, ensuring the perfect fit. 4. Wedding Must-Have: Finding a flattering wedding guest dress can feel like a task and a half, but this long-sleeved number easily works for a variety of dress codes. The faux-wrap design leaves enough room for bigger busts, while the sleeves offer plenty of arm coverage — a welcome detail as we head into fall. Shop the Look! 5. Quietly Luxe: Channel Hamptons rich moms with a slightly preppy, short-sleeve maxi. The V-neck dips just low enough without leaving you exposed, and while the elastic-waist design is roomy and laid-back, it's way more elevated than your go-to T-shirt dress. 6. Totally Timeless: If you only purchase one V-neck maxi, make it this long, floral find. The design is a classic, and while the spaghetti straps might feel risky, they're adjustable, allowing you to customize your look to best flatter your bust. 7. Star-Inspired: Halternecks are totally back — even Anne Hathaway is on board! This dress reminds me of one the actress recently wore, and while the top is more form-fitting and supportive, the rest of the dress is flowy, disguising your midsection. 8. Greek Goddess: Smocked dresses are a great go-to for bigger busts, since they work with your proportions and help define your shape. This option feels more fashion-forward than basic, thanks to the elegant short sleeves and pleated skirt. 9. Lots of Spots: There's a lot to love about this easy maxi, from its roomy, non-constricting design to the fact that it has pockets. However, I'm a big fan of the spotted print, which feels both whimsical and luxe. 10. Office Essential: I'm all for a dress that makes mornings easier, and this notched ruffle sleeve maxi does just that. The V-neck is super subtle, which not only keeps it office-appropriate, but also draws the eye upward and balances out the chest area. Shop the Look! 11. Perfect Proportions: Just like how a V-neck works to elongate, tiny flutter sleeves play around with proportions, too. The extra bit of material at the sleeve draws the eye inward, creating a slimmer appearance. 12. Darling Details: Belts can add some oomph to an outfit, but more than that, they cinch the waist and take attention away from the chest, bringing the eye down toward your bottom half. This luxe-looking option also features a skirt slit, letting you show a little leg. 13. Wealthy Vibes: Although the V-neck dips a little lower, this tropical dress is a must in my book. The striped trim and bold print remind me of a Farm Rio design, so that under-$40 price tag feels like a steal.
