I'm officially breaking up with shapeless sundresses. If a dress doesn't create at least a little waist definition, it probably isn't making it into my cart. Smocked dresses solve that problem by hugging in all the right places while staying cool and comfortable. I rounded up 17 pretty smocked dresses, and every one delivers a flattering, waist-defining silhouette. Whether your style leans boho, romantic or classic, there's something worth adding to your closet. Best of all, prices start at just $22. 17 Smocked Dresses That Actually Define Your Waist  1. Our Favorite: This smocked gingham maxi dress instantly gives the illusion of a more defined waist without sacrificing comfort. I'd wear it for everything from farmer's markets to beach vacations with woven sandals and a straw tote.  2. Figure Flattering: This spaghetti strap maxi dress naturally highlights the waist before skimming over the hips. It's exactly the kind of silhouette I reach for when I want to feel confident.  3. Color Crush: I can't stop looking at the bright floral print on this boho maxi dress. The fitted bodice creates shape up top, while the floaty skirt keeps the silhouette light and easy to wear.  4. Statement Maker: You don't need much jewelry with this floral maxi dress. The vibrant print steals the show, and the stretchy bodice creates a beautifully defined shape.  5. Petite Friendly: I always appreciate a shorter hemline that doesn't overwhelm my 5'3" frame, and this floral mini dress checks every box. The fitted bodice defines the waist, while the flared skirt creates a balanced silhouette.  6. Belly-Friendly: If I'm trying to hide a bloated stomach, a tiered midi dress is always my first choice. The stretchy bodice creates shape, and the breezy skirt comfortably skims over the tummy.  7. Heatwave Hero: When it's too hot to think about outfits, I always reach for flowy maxi dresses. The stretchy bodice creates shape, while the breezy skirt promotes airflow.  8. Bra-Friendly: I love a wide-strap maxi dress that lets me wear my favorite bra without giving it a second thought. Between the supportive straps, stretchy smocking and breezy tiers, this pick checks every box.  9. Coolest Pick: A 100% cotton sundress is one of the smartest things you can have in your summer closet. This one stays breathable on 100-degree days, and the stretchy bodice keeps the silhouette from looking boxy.  10. Anthro-Inspired: If you love Anthropologie's dresses as much as I do, this floral maxi dress is worth a look. With the bow-tie straps and pretty lilac print, it has the same boho-chic charm.  11. Romantic Pick: There's something undeniably charming about this floral ruffle sundress. Featuring a soft yellow blouse, a fitted smocked bodice and a ruffled hem, it feels like summer in dress form.  12. Boutique-Worthy: I'd happily pay twice the price for this light blue mini dress based on looks alone. The textured fabric and floaty silhouette give it that hidden-boutique feel I always gravitate toward.  13. Resort Ready: I'd pack this contrast-trim midi dress first for a warm-weather getaway. It's polished enough for resort dinners yet feels comfortable enough to wear all day.  14. Dreamy Details: Sometimes it's the little things that sell me, and this tie-shoulder maxi dress is full of them. The soft floral print and smocked bodice make it feel sweet without being overdone.  15. Boho Beauty: I'd happily swap my basic sundresses for this floral maxi dress. The dainty print and flowy silhouette give it that effortless boho feel that screams 'care-free summer.'  16. Leg-Lengthening: Whenever I want my legs to look a little longer, I reach for an A-line mini dress. The higher smocked waist draws the eye upward, while the shorter hem creates a naturally elongated look.  17. Elegant Ease: I don't always want a dress that's fitted from head to toe, and this embroidered maxi dress strikes the perfect balance. The smocked bodice creates definition before flowing into a breezy skirt that moves beautifully.  UsNow Summer Sale Alert: These Chic Fashion Finds are over 30% off - Plus Free Shipping Welcome to summer with our biggest sale of the year.
